Events occurring this week (April 15-19)

  • Attention, all students: Please check Schoology for a link to directions on updating your account.
  • Pre-Order your Panoramic Picture! The Panoramic Picture will be taken this Tuesday, April 16th, after the Senior Assembly – if you wish to purchase one, order through the link: https://mailchi.mp/2ec859bfe383/congrats-class-of-1174933
  • International Week is this week, April 15-19. International week is a culture week to celebrate the diversity of culture and to show students different cultures and traditions! Here are the events:
    • Monday: Lion Dance performance
    • Tuesday: Tie Ribbons (Rock Club)
    • Wednesday: Culture Fair
    • Thursday: PTSA International Food Tasting. Come enjoy the variety of foods from around the the world. Please note that this event does NOT provide full lunches, but food samples will be available. This event is free for all. There will be two serving locations, one near the Bow Gym and the other at the courtyard near the new building.

  • District Art Exhibit: Gunn art teachers are proud to announce the outstanding artworks from Gunn’s Visual Art Department now showing until April 19th at the District Office. Gunn and JLS artworks are displayed in the hallway available for viewing over spring break, if you can’t make office hours: 8:30am – 5:30pm.
  • The Gunn Business club is holding a fundraiser at Chipotle next Saturday, April 20th from 5pm to 9pm! Come out to the El Camino Chipotle (2675 El Camino Real, Palo Alto, CA 94306) with family or friends for good food and a great time. All are welcome to attend, from longtime members to students interested in joining one of the largest clubs and communities on campus—there’s a place for everyone! Please show the flyer on your phone or mention Gunn Business at checkout to help support our club. We’ll see you there!

Here are the details: WHAT–Junior/Senior Prom 2019 * WHERE—The Exploratorium, San Francisco * WHEN–Saturday, May 18th from 7 – 11pm. * HOW MUCH–Early Bird Price is April 12th to April 26th @ 4pm. $110 with ASB Card and $120 with Gunn ID or for guests. Regular Price is April 26th after 4pm to May 6th at 4:00 PM in the SAC and online**. $120 with ASB Card and $130 with Gunn ID or for guests. Link to Gunn Webstore: https://goo.gl/2Y3jV1 Dance Guests: If you are bringing a guest who does not attend Gunn to the Prom, you must turn in a completed Guest Pass for your guest before you can buy your guest a ticket. Only ONE Guest per student and guests must be in high school! All Guest Passes are due no later than Monday, 5/6 by 4:00 PM in the SAC – no exceptions. Guest Pass Forms are available in the SAC.
    **ALL TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED BY May 6th** due to our need to finalize head count with our venue and transportation. Please also keep in mind that supplies are limited due to venue fire code restrictions

Events happening next week (April 22-26)

  • Chalk Challenge 2019 Do you like to draw or design AND have a good time with creating with friends? Participate in this year’s Chalk Challenge! (Not a competition)
    • Instructions: 1) Make a team of 2-6 people, or create a small one alone. 2) Create a design* that incorporates themes of ACCEPTANCE, CELEBRATING DIVERSITY and LOVE. Be creative; these do not have to be literal! 3) Put student names, email, and grade of each member on back and submit to Ms. Messinger, in her box or in person in art building (M4/M5). Ideally designs are on a grid that corresponds with the chalk mural size of your choice. (Example: 6inx9in design is equivalent to a 6ftx9ft chalk mural)Email [email protected] with any questions The deadline for designs is Thursday, April 18th. Chalk Challenge will be presented April 22-26th, 2019
  • Sources of Strength presents “A Titan Is” Week, April 22-26. Peer Leader training will be on Tuesday, April 23 during D, Flex, E, lunch and A
  • Dress Like Your Mentor Day Wednesday, April 24 is– take pictures with your mentor to share on social media and be entered to win prizes.

Events happening in two weeks (April 30-May 4)

  • If you would like to audition to speak at either the Baccalaureate or Graduation ceremony, please complete the linked form by Monday, April 30th at 8am. If you have questions, talk to Mr. Dunlap or Ms. Hall.   • Senior Picnic Fantastic food, entertainment, and transportation are included. Students can ONLY travel via the buses provided. Tickets on sale until April 30th. Ticket prices are $90 for the Senior Picnic, and $160 for the Grad Night Party. Donations to our scholarship fund are still being accepted, and very much appreciated.   • Grad Night ’19 The PTSA GradNight Committee is excited to announce that Early-bird Registration for the 2019 GradNight and Picnic is now open. The Senior Picnic is Wed, May 29th at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk-immediately following rehearsal. The GradNight Party is Thurs, May 30th (after graduation ceremony until Friday ~3:30 AM) at an undisclosed location. We will send parents an email once we reach our special venue. Attendance is optional, but we sincerely hope that ALL seniors will participate and celebrate together. Ticket prices are $90 for the Senior Picnic, and $160 for the Grad Night Party. Fantastic food, entertainment, and transportation are included. Students can ONLY travel via the buses provided. Tickets will remain on sale until April 30th. Donations to our scholarship fund are still being accepted.
